Brassica rapa. Brassica rapa strain:Chiifu

International consortium of laboratories are involved in the sequencing of Brassica rapa genome using a BAC by BAC approach. Two libraries, KBrH and KBrB, constructed at Chungnam National University, S. Korea, provide 20-fold coverage of the genome. Two chromosomes are currently being completed in Korea, while groups in Canada, Japan, UK, Australia, India and China are sequencing the other five chromosomes. Sequencing is to be conducted to Phase 2, whereby BACs are to be sequenced to a single ordered and oriented contig, but with some gaps and ambiguous bases allowed.
