X-ray analysis of high-redshift comma dusty comma galaxy-wide quasar outflow candidates
收藏资源简介:
Feedback from accreting SMBHs is now a standard ingredient in galaxy formationmodels but direct observations have been scarce. Using SDSS and the VLT, weidentified a population of quasars at z2.5 exhibiting signatures of extremelyfast, dusty winds on galaxywide scales. Our proposed observations of thesequasars will allow us to determine:(1) the Xray luminosity to see if it issufficient for driving powerful galaxywide winds.(2) The spectral slope todetermine if the SED is conducive to wind launching. (3) The column density ofthe winds neutral gas component. These objects may prove to be the key tounderstanding quasar feedback at the epoch of peak galaxy formation, and Xrayobservations are necessary to determine their energetics and physical roperties. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
