The development of ovarian follicles is a dynamic process, which includes three stages: recruitment, selection, and dominance, which occur in every follicular cycle. The ability to regulate follicular growth and development to reach daily egg production, even two eggs per day, has attracted our attention. It is well known that keeping the egg-laying ability of chickens is an important goal of genetic improvement and breeding management of poultry. Therefore, the egg-laying ability of chicken flocks was evaluated by continuous egg production quality, and the transcriptomic characteristics of four key developmental stages (SWF, SYF, F 5, and f 2) of chicken follicles with different egg production traits were analyzed, the study laid a foundation for further understanding the follicular development and laying traits of laying hens.
