The Rhizobium strain NaPi was shown to form larger pink nodules on the roots of both SGEFix-1 (sym40-1) and SGEFix-6 (sym40-2) plant genotypes, in contrast to the smaller white nodules typically associated with the sym40 genotype. Histological and ethylene reduction analysis of symbiotic nodules formed on plants inoculated with NaPi revealed partial suppression of the mutant phenotype. In this project, the NaPi whole-genome was sequenced.
