Processed Observation Datasets for "Assessing Cloud Representation in Two Microphysics Schemes of the MPAS-Atmosphere Model (Version 8.2.2) Using Himawari-9 AHI Observations"

This Zenodo record contains the processed Himawari-9 Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) datasets used in the paper of "Assessing Cloud Representation in Two Microphysics Schemes of the MPAS-Atmosphere Model (Version 8.2.2) Using Himawari-9 AHI Observations". The observation datasets provided in this record were produced using the obs2model processing workflow. Detailed processing procedures and the associated codes are documented on Zenodo at https://zenodo.org/records/19925596. Specifically, the AHI radiance data and cloud retrieval products were remapped onto the regional MPAS unstructured mesh and then converted into the Interface for Observation Data Access (IODA) format. The regional model domain, centered near Singapore (1.21° N, 102.0° E), covers an approximately 1,120 km radius at a quasi-uniform horizontal resolution of 3 km. The raw Himawari-9 data are produced and managed by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and are accessed through the NOAA Himawari Open Data service on AWS. The Himawari-9 AHI Level-1 Full Disk radiances and Level-2 Full Disk cloud retrieval products used in this dataset were obtained from the AHI-L1b-FLDK archive (https://noaa-himawari9.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html#AHI-L1b-FLDK/) and the AHI-L2-FLDK-Clouds archive (https://noaa-himawari9.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html#AHI-L2-FLDK-Clouds/), respectively. NOAA and JMA are acknowledged as the original data distributor and producer, respectively; the processed datasets in this record are study-specific products and are not official NOAA or JMA products.
