Removal of antibiotic resistance genes/bacteria by algal-bacterial consortium treatment system

The primary objective of this study is to conduct exploration of the mutual interaction among algal-bacterial consortium, microbial communities in phycosphere, ARGs, potential hosts of ARGs, and MGEs using metagenomic technology. In this study, the ARGs and ARBs removal systems with actual urban water containing exogenous Chlorella vulgaris-Bacillus licheniformis consortium were established. The occurrence and abundance of ARGs and MGEs, microbiological compositions variations caused by MEGs in algal-bacterial system were analyzed. In addition, the influence on microbial communities by algal-bacterial consortium and new algal-bacterial relationship development were explored. Furthermore, the microbial function, the relationship between microbial communities and ARGs, and the mechanism of ARGs/ARBs attenuation by algal-bacterial consortium in urban water systemwere also analyzed.
