Hybrid Assembly of Variovorax genomes

We combined Oxford Nanopore long read data with Illumina short read data either from publicly available permanent draft sequences or generated in house to finish the assemblies of 15 isolate genomes cultivated from different settings. The data reveal genomic architectural variability across the genus. Variovorax is known to play an important role in the rhizosphere community, both as a "keystone species" and as a plant growth promoting rhizobacterium. This data will improve our understanding of the mechanisms of diversification, horizontal gene transfer, and genome evolution within this important group.
