We investigate the regional and laminar localization of inhibitory interneurons, identified by calcium-binding proteins (CBPs) parvalbumin (PV), calbindin (CB) and calretinin (CR), in the human brain. We use immunohistochemistry against CBPs in full hemisphere human brain sections, spanning visual areas from the occipital pole to the splenium of the corpus callosum. This data set contains RAW full hemisphere brightfield scans at 1µm resoltion. This is the first mult-label, full section cell-specific data-set availble in human. It can be used for mapping studies, and the provided images can be processed by other researchers according to their research planning.
