Minister Turnover, Critical Events, and Presidentialism

This dataset contains information on all ministers in office in 12 Latin American countries from 1978 (or the year of the democratic transition) to 2007. It covers 74 administrations, about 1,230 portfolios, and 2,601 ministers. (Notice that portfolio = 1 corresponds to the president.) Observations in the data matrix are time splits for survival analysis. The dataset includes 1,618 exits during the term and 983 censored cases (i.e., ministers leaving at the end of the administration).
