Data underlying the publication: Using local materials for scalable marine restoration: Xiriton as a nature-enriching, low impact building material

We test a novel marine building material, Xiriton, which can be produced predominantly from locally sourced materials (e.g. saltmarsh cordgrass, sand, oyster shells) with an adjustable lifetime. As such, it may provide a novel strategy in marine ecosystem protection in which the goal is to breakdown once the protected system is self-sustaining, boosting recovery from habitat lost without leaving permanent materials in the environment.本研究对一种新型海洋建筑材料Xiriton开展测试。该材料主要可由本地采集的原料（例如互花米草、砂石、牡蛎壳）制备，且服役寿命可调节。据此，该材料可为海洋生态保护提供全新策略：在受保护的生态系统实现自我维持后，该材料可自然降解，从而在不向环境中遗留永久性材料的前提下，助力受损栖息地的生态恢复。
