How microbiologists communicate their science in the social media era

Using an on-line survey we collected data from 200 scientists, with 101 participants directly working in the microbiology field and other 99 participants outside this field. We asked questions regarding the preferred vehicles used to stay updated with recent literature, to promote their science, to find collaborators, and we particularly focused on the role social media have in their scientific activities.
