Kvasir-Instrument dataset (size: 170 MB) contains 590 endoscopic instrument images and their corresponding ground-truth masks. The resolution of images in this dataset ranges from 720x576 to 1280x1024, and all image files are encoded with JPEG compression. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to release a gastrointestinal organ and instrument dataset. This open-access dataset can be freely downloaded for research and educational purposes. To facilitate unified training and testing across studies, we additionally provide a predefined train-test split, allowing researchers to adopt consistent dataset configurations when developing their methods and improving comparative results. Bounding box information with coordinates in the format (x, y, width, height) for each corresponding image is stored in JSON files. This dataset aims to advance state-of-the-art solutions for automatic instrument segmentation in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
