Marine fungi (ITS2) from coastal seawater following the Orange County oil spill, 2021

During the Orange County oil spill on October 1, 2021, a pipeline leak released approximately 24,700 gallons of crude oil in Huntington Beach, California, USA. This project examines the effect of this disturbance on marine fungal communities over a two-month period. Surface seawater samples were collected nearshore under very light (1 site) and light (4 sites) oiling conditions at 18, 34, 49, and 66 days following the spill. Each sample was split into two subsamples, and the ITS2 region of fungal rDNA was sequenced to assess changes in marine fungal communities over time. This dataset contains 40 sequenced subsamples.
