Developing a framework for a nurse-led model of care to support and empower people post hip fracture: A mixed methods study

This research focused on the care of people post hip fracture. Using a mixed methods design, key outcomes were identified: advanced practice nurses had a positive impact on patient care; a fragmented pathway was found, and; the care people valued post hip fracture was highlighted. This led to development of the PREPARE Conceptual Framework, describing a nurse-led model of care to empower people post hip fracture. This research unites lived experience and clinical expertise to produce a framework that informs clinical practice, and assists nursing healthcare leaders to develop nurse-led patient empowerment models of care supporting people post hip fracture.
