Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) - Detection Monitoring Plot Data.

Used by the FHM program to: (1) characterize forest conditions
(health) regionally and nationally; (2) characterize major
forest stresses, and, (3) quantify changes in forest conditions
throughout time and space.

Collection Organization: USDA Forest Service and participating
state forestry sites.

Collection Methodology: Trained field crews using portable data
recorders with real time editing capability. Collected in forest
situations by forest professionals. The sample location was an
acre in which 4 sub-plots of 1/24 acre.

Collection Frequency: Annually since 1990.

Availability Status:

There are some legal restrictions to the FHM data set. The plot
data are often collected on private lands so the availability of
data identifying an individual location is protected under the
Privacy Act. There are 76 fields per record with 25,000 records
per year. The size of the data set is 5 megabytes per year. Data
are in vector format.
