Evaluation of changes to the oral microbiome based on S16 rRNA sequencing among children treated for cancer

Childhood cancer survivors suffer from many oral complications during and 22 after anticancer therapy including caries. Our studies of oral microbiome of cancer survivors using 23 sequencing of the 16s rRNA gene, showed that anticancer treatment significantly affects bacterial 24 flora and these differences are related to the age of patients and duration of the therapy. This 25 should increase an understanding of cancer patients needs of treatment of long term oral 26 complications.
