Bacterial communities within the sediment and water of lake Neusiedl

Here we describe bacterial communities from two sediment cores of up to 35 cm depth, taken at Lake Neusiedl (Austria) in August 2017. Samples of the cores and the water column were taken in triplicate. The DNA was extracted (MO BIO PowerSoil DNA Isolation Kit) and the 16S rRNA genes were amplified for bacterial community profiling using the hypervariable regions V3 to V4. The amplified bacterial 16S rRNA genes were sequenced with an Illumina MiSeq sequencer using the MiSeq Reagent Kit v3.
