Dataset Description Dataset Title: “Pathways to Teacher Wellbeing in Vietnam: Dataset on Organizational Support, Professional Agency, Organizational Commitment, and Teacher Wellbeing among Teachers across Different School Contexts” Background This dataset accompanies the study "Pathways to Teacher Wellbeing in Vietnam: The Roles of Organizational Support, Professional Agency, and Organizational Commitment." The dataset was developed to examine how organizational support contributes to teacher wellbeing through the complementary mechanisms of professional agency and organizational commitment. It provides empirical evidence from Vietnamese teachers working in different educational contexts and supports investigations of organizational processes associated with positive professional functioning. Purpose of the Dataset The primary purpose of this dataset is to facilitate the examination of structural relationships among organizational support, professional agency, organizational commitment, and teacher wellbeing. The dataset was specifically designed for structural equation modeling and allows researchers to investigate direct effects, indirect effects, sequential mediation, higher-order constructs, predictive performance, and differences across school contexts. Beyond the original study, the dataset may also be reused for methodological demonstrations, scale validation, comparative educational research, meta-analysis, and secondary analyses focusing on teacher wellbeing, educational leadership, organizational behaviour, and school improvement. Participants and Sampling The dataset contains responses from 459 teachers employed in Vietnamese schools. Participants were recruited using purposive sampling to ensure balanced representation across three educational contexts: Private schools Urban public schools Rural and disadvantaged public schools The sample also includes teachers from preschool, primary, and secondary education, allowing comparisons across different educational levels while maintaining equivalent group sizes for multi-group analysis. Data Collection Data were collected between September 2025 and June 2026 using an anonymous self-administered questionnaire. Participation was voluntary, and informed consent was obtained from every participant before questionnaire completion. Questionnaires were screened prior to analysis, and only valid responses were retained. The released dataset contains no missing values. Dataset Contents The dataset includes demographic information together with responses to 70 questionnaire items measured using a seven-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (Strongly disagree) to 7 (Strongly agree). Demographic variables include teacher gender, age group, teaching experience, educational level, school type, and anonymous school identifiers. The measurement instrument contains four principal constructs: Organizational Support Professional Agency Organizational Commitment Teacher Wellbeing Organizational Support is specified as a higher-order construct comprising five dimensions: Leadership Support Resource Support Professional and Instructional Support Collegial Support Recognition and Emotional Support Teacher Wellbeing is also specified as a higher-order construct comprising four dimensions: Emotional Wellbeing Psychological Wellbeing Social Wellbeing Occupational Wellbeing Professional Agency and Organizational Commitment are modeled as reflective first-order constructs. Variable Organization Variables follow a standardized naming convention to simplify interpretation and data reuse. Organizational Support variables begin with the prefixes OS_LS, OS_RS, OS_PIS, OS_CS, and OS_RES, representing the five lower-order dimensions. Professional Agency variables are identified using the prefix PA, whereas Organizational Commitment variables use the prefix OC. Teacher Wellbeing variables use the prefixes TWB_EW, TWB_PW, TWB_SW, and TWB_OW, corresponding to emotional, psychological, social, and occupational wellbeing. Every questionnaire item is assigned a unique identifier that corresponds directly to the accompanying codebook. Data Processing Responses were screened before statistical analysis to identify incomplete questionnaires and invalid response patterns. No reverse-coded items are included in the released dataset. Composite construct scores reported in the associated study were calculated as arithmetic means of their corresponding observed indicators. Variable names and coding procedures remain consistent across the questionnaire, codebook, and statistical analyses to support transparency and reproducibility. Recommended Applications The dataset is suitable for a broad range of quantitative analyses, including: Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Mediation analysis Multi-group analysis Measurement invariance testing Scale validation Predictive modelling Comparative educational research Meta-analysis and secondary data analysis Repository Contents The repository includes the following files: Raw dataset in CSV format Variable codebook Survey questionnaire README documentation Citation information License information Together, these materials provide sufficient documentation to support data interpretation, replication of the published analyses, and future secondary research.
