Synthesis, structure and physical properties of a new two-dimensional polymer based on tri(imidazole) and dicarboxylate as co-ligands

A two-dimensional Co(II) complex [Co2(BPDC)2(TMIB)·H2O·DMA]n (1) (TMIB = 1,3,5-tris(2-methylimidazol-1-yl)benzene, H2BPDC = 2-(4-carboxybenzoyl)benzoic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric analyses. 1 is a two-dimensional layer based on [Co(BPDC)]n chains. The solid-state photoluminescence properties and photocatalytic properties for degradation of methylene blue (MB) of 1 were further investigated.
