资源简介:

This files are data relative to hydrothermal friction experiments conducted on quartz gouges, supporting the study "Temperature Dependence of Fault Frictional Healing in Quartz Gouges at Hydrothermal Conditions". This dataset contains raw data from hydrothermal friction experiments performed on simulated quartz gouges using a rotary shear apparatus "RoSA" equipped with a hydrothermal pressure vessel "HYDROS", installed in the Rock Mechanics Laboratory of the Department of Geosciences, Padua University. The experiments consist of slide–hold–slide tests designed to quantify fault frictional healing under controlled temperature, stress, and pore-fluid conditions. Quartz gouges with different initial grain sizes were sheared over large slip distances (up to ~90 mm) at temperatures of 23, 100, 200, and 400 °C, pore fluid pressures of 6 and 36 MPa, and effective normal stresses of 10 and 20 MPa. Experiments explore the combined effects of temperature, finite strain, effective stress, and fluid state (liquid, vapor, and supercritical) on frictional behavior and healing. The CSV files include time series of mechanical variables such as shear torque, normal stress, angular rotations, sangular velocities, fluid pressure, and temperature. Information on how to convert these measurements into geologically meaningful quantities can be found in the manuscript and references therein.
