The biological functions of the fibrous sheath and its associated proteins have not been fully understood up till now. Akap4 is the first AKAP to be described as associated with the sperm flagellum and is the most abundant protein in the sperm fibrous sheath. In order to investigate on the effect of Akap4 on the fibrous sheath, single-cell RNA sequencing was performed on the Akap4-knockout mice.
