资源简介:
The Hatch Site (5W138) is located in the West Stoneham Pasture Research
Area of the Pawnee National Grassland in northeastern Colorado. Phytolith
analysis was undertaken on three samples to augment the pollen analysis completed
previously (Cummings 1994). Eight Plains Woodland occupation zones and deposits
were noted at this site. A single hearth yielded a radiocarbon date of 880 + 50
BP (1070 + 50 AD). Pollen samples were examined from the modern surface, the
hearth fill, as well as from two occupation zones. Phytoliths were examined from
the modern surface, the Late Plains Woodland zone, and a probable Early Middle
Ceramic/Upper Republican zone. The pollen and phytolith records combined to
provide a record of prehistoric vegetation.
