Postoperative Cognitive Decline in Older Patients with Cardiovascular Disease and Preoperative Mild Cognitive Impairment

This dataset was collected to investigate longitudinal neuropsychological and clinical changes in older adults undergoing cardiac surgery. The database includes baseline and 12-month follow-up measures of mild cognitive impairment diagnosis, global cognitive functioning, and performance across five cognitive domains, including attention and working memory, executive functions, learning and memory, visuospatial functions, and language. Clinical variables related to cardiac disease and postoperative status were also recorded, type of cardiac pathology, postoperative atrial fibrillation, NT-proBNP levels, and APACHE II scores. The dataset enables the study of postoperative cognitive trajectories and the analysis of potential associations between cognitive change, frailty, preoperative MCI diagnosis, and perioperative clinical indicators.
