Emotional intelligence (EI) is the capacity to pay attention to one's own and other people's feelings and emotions, to recognise differences between them, and to utilise this knowledge to inform one's decisions and behaviour. Emotional intelligence is a set of non-cognitive abilities, competencies, and skills that affect how well one is able to deal with the demands and stresses of their environment and clinical postings are where students put what they have learned in theory into practise under the guidance of mentors and the appropriate teachers. The practise and improvement of theory, evaluation, and intervention skills learned in the classroom with real patients while being supervised by seasoned professionals occurs in a nexus for healthcare students.
