Panel Data on Digital Economy, Policy Support, and Urban Tourism Quality: China's Top 50 Tourist Cities (2015-2024)

This dataset supports the study "How digital economy and policy support shape the quality trajectory of urban tourism: evidence from China". The study constructs a high-quality urban tourism development index from three dimensions: tourism elements, structure, and environment. The core variables are the digital economy index (DE, derived from internet development and digital inclusive finance via PCA) and the policy support index (PS, derived from policy documents and fiscal support via PCA), with urbanization level, foreign investment, and tourism service capacity as controls. The dataset provides an annual balanced panel of 50 major Chinese tourist cities covering 2015-2024 (500 city-year observations), including: (a) raw data files (Excel) and (b) a README file with data sources.
