Access to French nationality, publication of 15 June 2021

In 2020, the annual flow of acquisitions of French nationality, with 84,864 new French, declined by 22.7 %, as a result of the continued decline in acquisitions of nationality by decree (- 15.6 %) and a decrease in acquisitions of nationality per declaration (- 29.3 %). Such a decline can be explained in particular by the COVID-19 health crisis and more specifically by the impact of lockdowns on the whole chain of investigation of acquisition files.
