This project aims to characterize the genomic variations associated with Ilamycin E resistance in Mycobacterium abscessus, a rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) that causes chronic and difficult-to-treat infections. Ilamycins are a class of natural products with promising activity against mycobacteria, including drug-resistant strains. By sequencing the genomes of ilamycin-resistant M. abscessus isolates, this study seeks to identify potential resistance mechanisms and provide insights into the drug's mechanism of action. The results may facilitate the development of molecular diagnostic markers and novel therapeutic strategies for NTM infections.
