To gain insight into the mechanisms by which exercise affects the neural stem cell compartment, we subjected young and old mice to aerobic exercise and performed single cell transcriptome analysis of cells from the subventricular zone of the brain of these animals. Single cells were isolated from the brain subventricular zone of exercised or control young (4-month old) and old (22-month old) mice and processed for single cell RNA-seq.
