资源简介:
This baseline survey was designed to assess the existing conditions of rural households at the onset of the Rwanda Super Foods project, which was focused on developing economically viable sweetpotato processed product value chains. The Super Foods intervention had four specific objectives namely to: 1. Develop a sweetpotato value chain based on contracting fresh roots from individual farmers. The procured roots are then boiled and mashed at the SE factory or other new processors. 2. Develop a sweetpotato value chain based on farmer group formation, value-addition via processing by linking the groups to final processors. 3. Support technology development and dissemination for high value white and orange- fleshed sweetpotato product value chains, and to evaluate the change in consumer acceptance of sweetpotato based products. 4. Compare and evaluate the relative efficiency of and gender equity within the two value chains and their potential to increase farmer incomes. Rwanda Supper Food Project Baseline Survey was conducted in five districts of Rwanda, Burera, Gakenke, and Rulindo districts in the Northern Province and Kamonyi and Muhanga districts in the Southern Province. The survey was conducted between November 2011 and December 2011. The data is collected by the International Potato Center (CIP) Rwanda in collabration with Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB). The data is collected from 596 households containing information on household identification, geographic location, household demographic (adults and children), production of non-sweetpotato, knowledge and attitude, preferences and sweetpotato pratices, access to low land area, sweetpotato traits preferences, marketing, dietary diversity (24 hour recall food consumption data), food security, 7 days food consumption data, livestock ownership and asset endowment.
