Main economic magnitudes of companies according to main activity. Autonomous communities by year

This table provides annual data since 2018 on the main economic magnitudes of companies in the industrial sector included in the corresponding sections and divisions of the CNAE-2009. The activities of the extractive and manufacturing industries are therefore included; electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply activities; water supply and sanitation, waste management and decontamination. The information is disaggregated territorially for the autonomous communities of Spain. Until the 2017 reference year included, the INE identified, for operational purposes, the business statistical unit with the Legal Unit (in the Spanish case, by means of the NIF). Thus, each Legal Unit formed a company for statistical purposes. According to the European Statistical System (ESS), from the data with reference to the year 2018 the Structural Business Statistics establish a new practical application of the statistical concept of Enterprise, according to which a company can be: or an independent Legal Unit, which is not part of a business group and is therefore presumed to have decision-making autonomy; or a business group consisting of one or more Legal Units; or a subset of one or more Legal Units of a business group.
