BIG LOG JAM- Curated by Domenico de Clario

Research Background: A collaborative project by artist collective OSW (Bianca Hester, Terri Bird and Scott Mitchell). Together these artists develop spatial works that explores notions of materiality and time. BIG LOG JAM continues OSW's research into the connections between force, movement and duration through a dynamic installation that includes (amongst other things) a meteorite cast in plasticine, a tennis ball machine and a large inflatable green sphere. The project references works by Italian artists Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) and Michelangelo Pistoletto (1933-). Research Contribution: BIG LOG JAM presents a theatre of actions whereby matter becomes expressive of its formation. Through this dynamic field the work poses a series of questions relating to the correlation of force and formation, material expression and duration. In highlighting the temporal dimensions of matter, the work seeks a comprehension of materiality beyond representation. Research Significance: BIG LOG JAM was presented as a major solo exhibition curated by AEAF director Domenico de Clario.
