The aim of the present study was to characterize the transcriptome profile of the roots and leaves of A. bidentata to uncover the biosynthetic and transport mechanisms of the active components. The identified sequences associated with saponin biosynthesis will facilitate the study of the functional genomics of saponin biosynthesis and the genetic engineering of A. bidentata.
