This dataset contains experimental measurements of the infrared absorption characteristics and atmospheric lifetime of carbonyl fluoride (COF₂) under controlled laboratory conditions. Despite being considered a low-global warming potential (GWP) candidate, COF₂'s GWP has not yet been quantified experimentally. This study provides a detailed assessment of COF₂'s climate impact over a 100-year period, measuring its infrared absorption and atmospheric lifetime under typical tropospheric conditions. The results indicate that COF₂’s rapid hydrolysis significantly limits its long-term climate forcing potential, thus validating its potential as a low-GWP alternative to high-GWP fluorinated gases used in semiconductor and display manufacturing. This dataset supports the scientific understanding of COF₂’s environmental impact and contributes to the development of sustainable alternatives in industrial applications.
