U.S. ED visits with opioids given or prescribed at discharge 2016, by diagnosis

This statistic presents the rate of emergency department (ED) visits in the U.S. with opioids given or provided at discharge in 2016, by selected primary diagnosis. In that year, there were around 33.1 ED visits for back pain per 1,000 adults in which opioids were both given in the ED and prescribed at discharge.
