Pooled metagenome of seawater microbial communities from East Sound, Orcas Island, WA, USA

In May and June of 2021, marine microbial samples were collected for DNA sequencing in East Sound, WA, USA every 4 hours for 22 days. This high temporal resolution sampling effort captured the last 3 days of a Rhizosolenia sp. bloom, the initiation and complete bloom cycle of Chaetoceros socialis (11 days), the following bacterial bloom (6 days), and the initiation of a second C. socialis bloom (2 days). DNA from all 128 microbial samples (0.22-1.2 micron) collected across the time series were combined to generate a pooled sample with equal amounts of DNA (50 ng) from each sample for whole genome sequencing.
