<p align='LEFT'><font face='Melior' size='1'><font face='Melior' size='1'><font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>The polygons provided in this data layer represent subsurface designated critical <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>habitat areas based on <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>our best assessment at the time of areas <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>that are within the geographical range of the Austin blind salamander <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>and are considered <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>to contain features essential to the <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>conservation of this species. The <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>extent to which the subterranean <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>populations of this species exists <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>below ground away from outlets of the <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>spring system is unknown. Because the <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>hydrology of central Texas is very <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'><font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>complex and information on the <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>hydrology of specific spring sites is <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>largely unknown, we will continue to <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>seek information to increase our <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>understanding of spring hydrology and <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>salamander underground distribution to <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>inform conservation efforts for these <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>species. At the time of this final critical <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>habitat rule, the best scientific evidence <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>available suggests that a population of <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>these salamanders can extend at least <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>984 ft (300 m) from the spring opening <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>through underground conduits or voids <font color='#4c4c4c' size='4'>between rocks.
