Emissions trends 1990-2005

In Report, the Federal Environment Agency provides an overview of anthropogenic air pollutants in Austria: • Dust – total particulate matter (TSP), particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) • ozone precursor substances – nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane volatile hydrocarbons (NMVOC), carbon monoxide (CO) • acidifying and eutrophicating air pollutants – sulphur dioxide (SO2), ammonia (NH3), nitrogen oxides (NOx) • heavy metals – cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb) • persistent organic compounds (POPs) • greenhouse gases – carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), fluorinated gases The main sources are analysed and current emission data are compared with mandatory environmental targets. The data are based on the results of the Austrian Air Pollution Inventory, which is compiled annually by the Federal Environment Agency.
