This project presents a chromosome-level genome assembly of teak defoliator (Hyblaea puera), a moth species that primarily infests teak trees(Tectona grandis) in South and Southeast Asia, like India. Recent outbreaks in South China's mangroves have severely damaged Avicennia spp., causing substantial economic losses. This genome provides a key resource for elucidating host-shift adaptation and population explosion mechanisms, offering critical references for future IPM and precise control of this emerging threat.
