CREW RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (CRM) IN MILITARY PILOT TRAINING: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS, INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR UZBEKISTAN

Analysis of aviation accidents and combat losses in military aviation consistently demonstrates that the overwhelming majority occur not as a result of technical malfunctions, but due to communication breakdowns between crew members, degraded situational awareness, and erroneous decision-making under pressure. Crew Resource Management (CRM) is a structured pedagogical system aimed at developing the Non-Technical Skills (NTS) of flight personnel. This article examines the origins and evolutionary history of CRM in military aviation across five generations of development, its core competency framework, and the evidence-based outcomes achieved by leading military aviation systems worldwide. The challenges specific to implementing CRM within hierarchical military organisations are analysed, and practical solutions are proposed. Drawing on the experiences of the United States Air Force, the Royal Air Force, NATO, and the Israel Air Force, a national CRM implementation roadmap for the Military Aviation Institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2025–2030 is presented.
