E-Scooter Data Counts at UCLA

The group conducted e-scooter observations at four locations at UCLA: Lu Valle Commons with two e-scooter racks (LV), the Public Affairs Building entrance with one e-scooter rack (PA), the Life Sciences Building entrance with one e-scooter rack (LS), and the Math Sciences Building (MS) breezeway with two e-scooter racks.These observations occurred on Wednesday and Thursday mid-mornings and afternoons in the months of February and March, 2020. On Wednesdays the observation periods occurred from 10:45-11:45 am and from 2:30-3:30 pm. On Thursdays the observation periods occurred from 10:00-11:00 am and from 2:30-3:30 pm. To organize observations, the group gathered data in a set of Google Sheets, split by day into morning and afternoon observations. The group structured each sheet to include sections for the name of the team member completing the observation, the weather during the observation period, and the initial count of e-scooters and e-bikes in the area. Below this information, the group included a table to collect data at 15-minute increments of the number of e-scooters in the racks/nearby, e-bikes nearby, and e-scooters parked incorrectly (not upright and blocking the sidewalk). An additional section was added below the table to input the final count of e-scooters and e-bikes in the area and any interesting notes from the observation period.
