Cladophialophora carrionii is a fungal species member of the family Herpotrichiellaceae, being the second most frequent genus isolated from chromoblastomycosis patients. This species is found mainly in arid areas of tropical and sub-tropical regions and found as a saprophyte or living in association with plant matter. Chromoblastomycosis is trigged by the inoculation of fungal material into the skin and farming activities in the endemic zone are a risk factor for the development of the disease. The genomic data will bring new opportunities to understand the biology of this fungal species as well to compare with F. pedrosoi in order to determine common genomics evolutionary features for human pathogenesis.
