At the Poker Flat Research Range of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the Geonor Inc. T-200BMD precipitation gauge is installed to observe total precipitation. The T-200BMD is a vibrating wire precipitation gauge specifically designed for accurate total precipitation measurement in all weather conditions. The data represents cumulative values recorded every 30 minutes, with the final time of the accumulation period indicated in the TimeStamp. Missing data is represented by -9999 and has a Flag value of 2. A Flag value of 0 indicates reliable data. A Flag value of 1 means the data is slightly less reliable but still usable. The gauge is equipped with a protective casing and features a 200 cm2 inlet that complies with WMO standards. Total precipitation is measured using vibrating wire load sensors. The device, along with a wind shield, is installed on a pedestal. Antifreeze is used to melt solid precipitation within the container, eliminating the need for electrical heating and reducing potential errors. Additionally, a thin oil layer is applied to minimize evaporation.
