MM = Mild malaria, SM-S = severe malaria survivors, CM-S = cerebral malaria survivors, CM-NS# = cerebral malaria non-survivors (57 were CM-NS and 5 were SM-NS (severe malaria non-survivors); Severe malaria (SM) cases had no cerebral signs.
