Botao Lake is a plateau inland saline lake located in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, within the jurisdiction of Qinghai Province. Geographically, it spans from 33°58′24″N to 34°3′35″N and 89°53′31″E to 90°0′37″E. Botao Lake lies in the continental fault-depression zone between the Zorkun Ula Mountains and the Tanggula Mountains, and is a tectonic fault-depressed lake basin. The lake basin is also surrounded by the Gaqia Diru Gangri Mountains and Purog Kangri Mountains. In 2015, the catchment area of Botao Lake was 71.23 km², and the length of its shoreline was 39.80 km. The lake region is situated in a semi-arid climate zone, with an annual average temperature of -6°C and an annual precipitation of approximately 200 mm. The lake's water recharge mainly depends on surface runoff, snow and ice meltwater, and spring seepage. A total of four surface runoff channels flow into the lake basin: the Lanli River, which enters the basin from the northern shore, is the largest surface runoff; the other three are intermittent streams that collect snow and ice meltwater and atmospheric precipitation during wet seasons, and discharge into the lake from the southern and southeastern shores respectively. The vegetation around the lake beach is primarily alpine steppe dominated by Carex moorcroftii and Stipa purpurea. This dataset was developed based on Google Earth remote sensing satellite images (2015) and relevant maps. The dataset is stored in .kmz and .shp formats, consisting of 15 data files with a total size of 377 KB (compressed into 2 files with a size of 147 KB).
