This dataset includes a photograph of the interference pattern from laser radiation with powdered sugar particles on a 2.0 mm glass plate, a microscope image of particles at ×1280 magnification, an image pre-processed in a graphic editor and further processed and analysed in ImageJ, particle size measurements, and a LabPlot project file containing the histogram of particle size distribution. These materials support the study "Demonstration Experiment and Theoretical Model of Light Interference with Small Particles."
Contents of the dataset:
'rings_2mm.jpg': The photograph of the interference pattern of laser radiation (λ = 0.6328 μm) with small particles of powdered sugar on a glass plate of 2.0 mm thickness.
'particles_microscope_1280x.jpg': Original microscope image of powdered sugar particles on a glass plate, captured at ×1280 magnification using metallographic microscopy.
'particles_preprocessed_1280x.jpg': Pre-processed microscope image (×1280 magnification) with enhanced contrast to improve particle visibility and facilitate further analysis in ImageJ.
'particles_processed_imagej_1280x.tif': 8-bit image of powdered sugar particles at ×1280 magnification, processed in ImageJ for particle segmentation and quantitative analysis.
'particles_highlighted_imagej_1280x.png': A screenshot of the image processed in ImageJ, showing segmented and numbered particles. The segmentation results are displayed for subsequent quantitative analysis of the particles’ morphological characteristics.
'particle_sizes_imagej.csv': Table of particle size data exported from ImageJ. The dataset includes parameters such as Area, Minimum, Maximum, X/Y coordinates, Perimeter, Circularity, Roundness, Solidity, among others, as well as the calculated particle diameter (in µm).
'LabPlot project particle_distribution_plot.lml': LabPlot project file containing a histogram of the particle size distribution based on equivalent particle diameters.
