Escherichia coli L-forms

The L-form is an osmotically fragile,cell-wall deficient physiological state common in bacteria undergoing stress or starvation. In this study, we tested the susceptibility of Escherichia coli L-forms and their cell-walled revertants to phage attack and antibiotic exposure, showing that they may at least in part explain the persistence of infection during therapy.
