Xenopus laevis tadpole limb buds possess regenerative ability; they can form full limbs after amputation. However, tadpoles gradually lose this ability as the limb buds differentiate, amputation of limbs in late tadpole stage result in formation of unsegmented cartilaginous spikes. It was reported that FGF10 stimulates the regenerative ability of hindlimbs in late tadpole stage; hindlimbs with FGF10 administration can regenerate well-patterned limb structures after amputation. In this study, we aimed to reveal the difference of cell component between the regenerating hindlimbs that were implanted with FGF10-soaked beads and that with PBS-soaked beads, using single cell RNA sequencing.
