Genome sequencing of Cotton leaf curl virus prevalent in Faridkot, Punjab, India

Cotton leaf curl disease (CLCuD) is caused by the Cotton leaf curl virus (CLCuV), which has been responsible for several epidemics in the Asian region. CLCuV has been highly evolving into novel strains and caused major constraints to cotton production in India. To identify the prevalent strain of CLCuV, cotton leaf sample (infected with Cotton leaf curl disease) was collected from the fields of the North Indian region (Faridkot, Punjab, India). The present study aims to identify the CLCuD-causing virus in Faridkot, Punjab, India through high-throughput sequencing.
