This dataset contains model output that has been generated and analysed in the Bjerknes Center for Climate Research (BCCR) Fast Track Initiative "Can weaker bias in the North Pacific atmospheric circulation improve boreal summer climate variability?" and with results published in Boljka et al. 2024 (https://doi.org/10.1002/asl.1272).
The simulations were performed with the atmospheric component of the Norwegian Earth system model version 2.2 (NorESM2.2) with regional nudging to ERA5 applied over the North Atlantic and North Pacific.

AMIPctlTry2 - control experiment
AMIPfullN - full-field nudging over the North Pacific
AMIPfullNatl - full-field nudging over the North Atlantic
AMIPfullNsmall - full-field nudging over the North Pacific (smaller region)
AMIPfullNstr - full-field nudging over the North Pacific (larger region)
AMIPfullNwT - full-field nudging over the North Pacific (only western NP)
AMIPanomN - anomaly nudging over the North Pacific
AMIPnudgtend - nudging of climatological tendencies over the North Pacific
The study was funded by the Bjerknes Center for Climate Research (BCCR) though the 2023 Fast Track Initiative (FTI) with title "Can weaker bias in the North Pacific atmospheric circulation improve boreal summer climate variability?".
