资源简介:
In May 1998, St. Louis District personnel contacted three California Information Centers to research archaeological and historic buildings survey work conducted at three California Army National Guard (CAARNG) facilities in the state. This document reports the history of cultural resources investigations on federally owned or federally supported CAARNG facilities, lists archaeological sites and historic buildings recorded within facility boundaries, discusses historic contexts and predictive models, and provides a list of Native American tribes that may be culturally affiliated with archaeological collections recovered from CAARNG facilities.
To date, cultural resources investigations have been conducted at all three investigated CAARNG facilities: Camp Roberts Training Site, Camp San Luis Obispo, and Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center. Cultural resources have been recorded on Camp Roberts and Camp San Luis Obispo. In total, 88 archaeological sites have been recorded, 40 on Camp Roberts and 48 on Camp San Luis Obispo. Additionally, all of the 1,052 buildings on Camp Roberts have been inventoried. On Camp Roberts, National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) determinations have been made for 31 archaeological sites; 15 were deemed eligible for listing, and 16 were deemed not eligible. Additionally, one building on Camp Roberts (#16001) and one bridge have been deemed eligible. No NRHP determinations have been made for sites or buildings on Camp San Luis Obispo. Artifact collections are reported for both facilities.
The full extent, nature, and location of archaeological collections (artifacts and documentation) recovered from work conducted on CAARNG facilities will be determined in the second phase of this project, to be completed during Fiscal Year 1999.
